X-League Playoffs 2024-2025 Season

A Word from our 2x Union County Male Bowler of the year & our 2024-2025 National Playoff Director - Mark Colineri Jr.

X-League 2024/2025 Playoff Announcement:

Hello X-League bowlers, Happy New Year! Let’s start off 2025 with releasing some information about the playoffs that cap off competition for this year!

For those who do not know me already, I am Mark Colineri and I will serve as your National Playoff Director going forward!

We are excited to share the information regarding the playoffs for the 2024/2025 X-League season. As was the case last year, we will be using a double elimination format throughout the playoffs. This means that a loss does not automatically knock you out of the competition!

The winners of each competing X-League division (North Jersey/New York, Jersey Central, Jersey Shore, and Philly/Delaware) will be seeded 1-4 (double bye) based on win percentage throughout the year. The winner of the New Jersey South division will automatically be seeded 5th. All remaining seeds, 6-20, will be ranked by win percentage. There will be double-header competition throughout to aid in completing playoff completion prior to July.

Also attached is the playoff prize fund based on finishing position. Between playoff and regular season payout, X-League is awarding over $130,000 in prize money this season! Good luck to all competing teams as they vie for a spot in playoff competition!

PLAYOFF RULES:
The X-League will be taking the top 4 franchises from each division, to complete in the playoffs.
Currently, The X-League has 3 divisions. Each division winner will receive a bye in the first round of the playoffs. The franchise with the highest winning percentage remaining will get the #4 seed and will also receive a bye.
Division winner's seeds (1,2,3) will be based on winning percentage. If there is a tie in terms of winning percentage between any of these franchises, it will default to the final weeks' higher point total for that week. If a team qualifying for the playoffs has a bye from week 18 that ends up in a tie situation, all tiebreakers will start at week 17 for both competing teams. If a tie occurs for week 18 (considered the final week), it will default to the higher point total from week 17 (considered the second to last week), and so on.
The remaining franchises will be seeded in order in terms of winning percentage (5,6,7,8,9,10,11,12). All tie breakers will default to the final week's point total but must ensure each division has 4 franchises competing. All ties, to determine 5-12 seeds, regardless if the teams are in the same division, will default to the final week point total of the regular season. If a tie still occurs, then the tiebreaker will default to week 17 totals, unless one of these teams experienced a buy, then that week would not determine a tiebreaker, and must default to the previous week, and so on.
If there is a tie between a 4th place team in the division and a 5th place team in the division, the tie breaker will default to total "head to head" point matchups for the entire season. If a tie still occurs, the point total for week 18 will be considered the tie breaker, then week 17, and so on, unless one of these teams experienced a bye, then that week would not determine a tie breaker.
Blinds for playoffs will enter with a 200 average, and a 180 score and can win points.
Teams will advance through the playoffs based on the higher point total against the team they are competing against. If a tie occurs in the playoffs, a one game roll off will determine the winner. The point system will be 1 point per bowler, 2 points per game, 5 points for overall wood. There is a maximum total of 20 points. If a tie occurs during the roll off, a second game will be bowled with the same point system, and so forth.
All bowlers are still required to pay the normal tour stop fee of $40. Bowlers are not responsible for lineage on roll offs. Franchise owners will still submit their lineup through the website. Lineups are due the Thursday before competition by 11:59pm. If a franchise has to bowl a second time in the day, lineups still go through the website, and is due 20 minutes prior to competition.
Qualifications to participate for playoffs:
Bowlers must have a minimum of 9 games in The X-League regular season of 2023-2024. Franchise owners are responsible for submitting qualified bowlers. If a bowler is found not to have the minimum of nine games, an alternate can go directly into that spot, otherwise, a blind will go in that place.
Averages:
Averages are locked for the day of competition.
Averages will be recalculated on the Monday after competition. X-League still has the right to re-evaluate or re-rate any bowler's average at any given time.
Examples:
1. If you have 17 games entering the day, and you bowl six games in a playoff day, both rounds will use their X-League entering average. In the following weekend, bowlers would use their 23 game average.
2. If a bowler has 21 games entering the day, and the bowl six games one weekend in the playoffs, both rounds use the established 21 game average. In the following weekend, bowlers would use their 27 game average.
Lineups:
Lineup rules will remain the same as the regular season. However, franchise owners may swap bowlers from one lane to another, up until two hours before competition start. After this two hour window, only alternates can enter where a bowler gets removed. A removed bowler may enter back into competition, but only in the spot where they were removed. Up to 2 alternates can be used for every 3 game set of competition.
Bowlers are required to act ultra professional during competition. This includes cursing, arguing, fighting, punching or slamming equipment, or unnecessary or extreme trash talking. If any of these actions, or like-minded actions occur, a warning will be given. If any of these actions happen as soon as a second time, the bowler may be removed, and zeros will be used for the remainder of the game. Franchise owners, have the right, at the end of the game, to install an alternate, or a blind for the next game. The Jersey rule will also be enforced.
For playoff purposes only, for late bowlers, bowlers cannot make up any frames. Once competition starts, which is defined as the first ball of the first frame of the first game, If a bowler is late, the franchise owner, at that time, has the option of taking a blind, or using an alternate. The decision must be made in the first frame. Again, bowlers will not be able to make up frames. Please be on time or early. No exceptions.
Prize money: (regular season)
All regular season teams will receive prize money, minus the $299 annual renewal fee, within 30 days of the final regular season scheduled matchup. Taxes may or may not be withheld, as we are awaiting our 501(c)7 status to be approved or denied through the state. All checks will be made out to the franchise owner. It is the franchise owner's responsibility to distribute all winnings to their members.
